Since September 2023, Dr. Isabella Fiorello has led the Hybrid Nature Lab within the Cluster of Excellence Living, Adaptive, and Energy-autonomous Materials Systems (livMatS) at the University of Freiburg. The group’s research focuses on developing biologically inspired, microfabricated living materials capable of precisely interacting with complex, unstructured surfaces, with applications in precision agriculture, smart fabrics, space, and soft robotics.
